Signing Cards & New Art Commissions
:

I am happy to sign cards sent in the mail, but artists are typically charging for the signatures. It makes a lot more sense than limiting the number I will sign for people who are just selling them. For MAGIC cards the price is $2 USD for EACH signature on a card or other object. The first MAGIC signature will be free. (Note: There is no extra signing fee for the first 10 cards of any other game, or for prints or Artist Proof cards or any other product I sell). So if you want cards to be signed, you can send as many as you like -with return mailing.

Yes, I will do Original Art Paintings or Sketches involving my original Magic card themes, either on A.P cards or on other paper, play mats, etc. Just contact me before sending it so we can work out what you want and the price.

  Announcement- 4/1/2023
Great News!  I'm making good progress on catching up the Wait List commissions. So if you are on it, hold on, and I will let you know when your turn comes up.

If you are NOT on the list, you are welcome to contact me about commissioning work, and I can add your name, but it is very hard to know when your name will come up. Some people add to their order, some postpone because they are stretched for cash at the time, some change their minds, some want full sized paintings which are not yet specified in size or complexity. So it isn't likely that a guess on when a name will come up would be reasonable.
You just have to trust that I am going through them diligently and will contact you when the time comes.

I also do Full Scale Paintings!
A lot of people want larger, more developed versions based on my original card art themes. Many call them "Repaints" but I never paint exactly the same picture so they can be unique, and not confused with each other. I call them "Enhanced" versions. These are bigger and WAY better! The original M:TG art was 5-5/8" X 7" and done quickly for low pay. The Enhanced version paintings all have much higher craftsmanship. The larger versions do not have just larger brushstrokes- the surfaces are more detailed and rich in textures. The prices are determined by how much work-time I feel it will take to make the art.

The typical sizes I create Enhanced versions are: Original size (on 8x10 panel), 12 X 16 inches, and 16 X 20 inches. Other sizes are available on request.

Medium and Support: Usually the Enhanced version paintings are made on 1/8" thick masonite panel primed with acrylic gesso. In most cases at least the first layers are painted with acrylic colors. In may paintings the work is completed with acrylic. In some cases I find it appropriate to further paint in oils over that acrylic. If I paint in oils it adds to the time it takes to compete the art. because of longer drying time. All Acrylics and oil colors are chosen for  durability.

EXCEPTION:
The Urza's Miter art has a uniqueness which sets it apart in the way it is made.  The original concept is medieval Manuscript Illumination based on a late 15th c. Italian style. My original M:TG Urza's Miter was on paper with rendered yellow instead of real gold. I offer Enhanced versions with optional upgrades which can include: g
enuine animal skin parchment for the page, genuine gold, rare medieval pigments such as lapis lazuli, malachite, vermilion, bistre, buckthorn berry yellow and green, saffron, red and white lead, and the super rare purple from turnsole.)

SCHEDULING A COMMISSION:
Please reference my Commission Info page for more details.
Dec. 27, 2020:    Since January 2018, I have been locked in a mission to rescue my elderly mother from victimization by an abusive and exploitative Guardianship and Conservatorship supported by a corrupt Probate Court (learn more). The mission is my top priority, and from time to time it makes temporary demands my tiime. That means in the midst of painting I sometimes have to switch to research and writing materials for the court case. The delay can be a few days or a few weeks. If you commission art from me you should anticipate and accept this as a possibility. Please know that I take the business of art very professionally, and your work will be completed without unreasonable delay.

TIMING:  Due to the above delays, and because when I post pictures of recent art I tend to get flooded with commission requests, I have to limit how many commissions I take on at a time. The more I book, the further out and more difficult to predict the intended finishing date becomes.  You are welcome to contact me to make a commission, and
I will give you an estimated  general time I expect it to be finished, with the understanding that it may be delayed by the above matters. If I can do it in a time that works for you, I will accept a 50% downpayment, which puts you on the schedule.

Please write to me and inquire about pricing. See my commissioning art page for details.

The Gathering
Rediscover the original artists of Magic: The Gathering® reunited to create new paintings for this limited release Art Book!

Magic: The Gathering Artists make a book called The Gathering

I am a collaborator on a fabulous Art Book! We call it "The Gathering," and it is a 20th Anniversary reunion project of most of the early artists who worked on the Wizards Of The Coast collectible card game Magic: The Gathering. Please take a look at the kickstarter page and see the wonderful video made by M:TG artist Mike Kimble.
Our very successful Kickstarter campaign raised just short of $150,000.

The Gathering page: Click here for info!

I'm so sorry, but my supply of The Gathering, both hardback and soft cover, are all sold out now. You can try one of the other featured artists, Jeff Menges at Full Steam Press, or from a Dealer.

This book was mostly pre-sold on Kickstarter. Although some retailers
bought copies on KS, it is generally not available through stores.  We artists made it,
and we artists are selling it.

BUT- I have beautiful prints of The White Tree, which was my contribution to the book!
