Cuthbert's Revenge

| This was created as an illustration for the Llewellyn Publications book entitled Scottish Witchcraft. The detail is incredible. The blue and red knot work bands are actually much more detailed than this picture shows. Each ribbon is a pair of ribbons made of white and blue or red bands, and when they intersect other ribbons they make a four way over and under intersection. The style is Celtic from the so-called "dark ages." The piece took so much work, at such a small scale, that I decided that St. Cuthbert, the Bishop of Lindisfarne who is responsible for the Lindisfarne Gospels, was taking revenge on me for all the sins in my life. His work inspired me to do this after all. |
