I began my interest is this subject while a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, and have been developing it beyond those beginnings for many years. Part social club and part mechanism for the exploration of medieval technology, the SCA is a place where I started to learn about the way books and the illustrations that went into them were created by hand in antiquity. Although many visitors to this page may be members of the SCA, it is my hope that it will be enjoyed by anyone who likes the charm of the past.
In the SCA we are known by medieval names. For my friends in the SCA, you are looking at the works of Baron Sir Ranthulfr Asparlundr, Master of the Order of the Laurel. For those who are unfamiliar with what that is all about, the best explanation I can give is that along with the medieval names in the society, we also use titles that are conferred based on merit. If you are curious, please explore the SCA link I have provided. It is a worthy way to entertain yourself for hours on end!
