This is a painting about tyrrany
and evil being sold to the public as if it was for their own good.
It is a painting about how the German people were led down the
road to evil by the Nazis. The slogan "Kennscht mi Noch?"
means "Still Remember Me?" It was used on the upper
wing of a german WWI fighter, but it seemed an appropriate remark
to consider in a world that sees the rise of recent tyrrants who
have surfaced in such places as the Balkans, Africa, and the Middle
East. This painting was made while Saddam Hussain was still active,
and it includes an arrow leading from the initials A.H. to the
initials S.H. It could just as easily have been O.b.L meaning
Ousama bin Laden could easily ask the question "Kennscht
mi noch?" and it would be the shadow of Adolf Hitler over
his face.
Again, the white obscures the truth
beneath. In this dark and sinister representation, pure evil masquerades
under the disguise of benevolance to it's people.
OK, that's the heavy trip. I promise
the other ones are a LOT lighter! More visual and less narrative.
