Middle Kingdom Great
Book
Leather Case
Artist: Master Ricard of Sabletree
Copyright: Richard Towler
This beautiful heavy leather case was
created as a replacement for the first case, which was stolen
in a burglary at the home of one of the artists working on the
book. With great relief, the kingdom is thankful that the crooks
saw no reason to also take the heavy wooden chest containing the
book! Had they only known.....
The case bears a striking example of
Scandinavian style ornamentation. The stylized Midrealm dragon
is tooled into the leather on the front, sides, and flap, and
the straps are stitched with the shape of the wolves of Septentria.
The panel on the front face is stipple work.
